Cash Converters International, founded by Brian Cummins in 1984, started from a single store in Perth, Western Australia, with a vision to transform second-hand goods and pawn brokerage stores into professional retail outlets providing a range of lending and cash-release services to a wide range of clients. The Company now has representation in 21 countries and has more than 230 stores in the UK; 63 are owned, the remainder franchised.
Modern retailing practices, strict selection criteria for goods bought, with sharp, fresh-looking stores, underscored by professional management techniques and a strong commitment to staff training have all contributed to Cash Converters becoming number one in its sector in the UK by ensuring all its customers are offered peace of mind across the full range of products and services. In addition, the business operates a growing short term lending business via its store network and online presence.
Facts and challenge – 2013
In preparation for continued rapid, organic growth, the Company decided to relocate its finance operations from Ware to Runcorn to sit alongside its other core head office functions. The Company appointed Harbury Consulting as its exclusive Recruitment Search and Selection partner to manage all recruitment needs through the transition at both sites. They also advised on organisational structure, specifications and project plan. This was an exciting new phase in the Company’s evolution and Harbury were engaged and retained as a partner to ensure the attraction of the highest calibre of finance professionals was completed.
